Hosting

This site is hosted by the great folk at AussieHQ, who are a Canberra based hosting company.

From a technical standpoint, the service has been excellent. The performance of the server has been great and the speed of the network is exceptional. Since I use the same ISP at home, as AussieHQ use as a primary bandwidth provider, the path I take from home to my site never leaves my ISPs network; needless to say it flies. For the geeks that are wondering, it looks something like this:

  1. 51 ms 23 ms 16 ms lns1.bne1.internode.on.net [150.101.180.16]
  2. 34 ms 32 ms 33 ms gi2-3.cor2.bne1.internode.on.net [150.101.180.115]

When signing up, I was walked through the signup process ‘live’, with a support person talking to me through a web based chat interface. This was a great idea as it allowed me to query them on the spot about various things. Since signing up, I’ve contacted AussieHQ a couple of times regarding a few smaller things; all of which have been responded to in a timely manner and a great attitude.

I’ve had such a great ride with AussieHQ since May 2005, that I would find it hard not to recommend them. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced Australian owned, powered and hosted company – check out AussieHQ.

History

When I purchased this domain in 2003, I had my hosting with a Melbourne company named HostCentral and the service they provided was excellent. Roughly two years later, as our wedding approached – I moved to AussieHQ to save some money. You can read about that in more details when I said farewell to HostCentral and moved to McGooHQ AussieHQ.
